The Audit Bureau of Circulations, which verifies the readership of print publications, is beginning to release circulation and reach numbers combined for business publications. They will report on a time period’s print circulation, combined with that period’s unique online audience for the publication’s website. The idea is to provide aggregated information about a publication’s circulation, pass-along receivership, Web site traffic, and other auditable media, compiled into a “Total Audience Reach” figure. The early feedback has been mixed, with particular concern that there is no audience duplication reported.
